My journey into floral design began during my Horticulture degree, where I discovered my love for cutting flowers from the garden and arranging them into something beautiful. At first, my training focused on traditional techniques, but I soon realized there was a whole world of creativity waiting for me in wedding floristry. That freedom to explore and express is what drew me in and has shaped my design philosophy today.
I like to describe my style as refined whimsical—it’s lush, elegant, and balanced. I use premium flowers and roses to create designs that are striking yet approachable, not overly compact but not overly whimsical either. My approach is open-minded and exploratory, grounded in a strong foundation of what works, which allows me to push creative boundaries while staying intentional and thoughtful.
I also love embracing trends, both old and new, to create designs that feel timeless yet fresh. And nothing gets me more excited than working with a unique color palette—it’s often the starting point for creating something truly one-of-a-kind.
Another key source of inspiration for me is the changing seasons. I love incorporating seasonal elements that reflect Virginia’s natural beauty, like flowering branches, narcissus, and ranunculus in the spring or dahlias, cosmos, and grasses in late summer and fall. Embracing what’s in season not only enhances the authenticity of the design but also celebrates the time and place of each special event.
