Wedding Greenery 101
When we think about wedding flowers and bouquets, we often think about the blooms: the big bright center of the arrangement that catches our eye. While the bloom may seem like the star, the center point of this gorgeous constellation we call wedding florals and arrangements, greenery provides the depth, texture, and substance that complements and enhances the beautiful blooms. Greenery brings the arrangement together and forms a cohesive look and feel. Whether you're planning your wedding in Richmond, Virginia, or Charlottesville, Virginia, incorporating a variety of lush greenery can create a sophisticated, balanced look in your floral designs.
Greenery comes in all different shapes, styles, and fragrances and, similar to flowers, will vary by season. We recommend incorporating at least three different greenery variations per arrangement to provide balance and depth.

Silver Dollar Eucalyptus: A big and broad-leaf variety, this plant has a clean menthol-like smell that is commonly associated with the eucalyptus plant. This plant adds fullness and a sense of “freshness” to arrangements.
Eucalyptus Parvifolia: Delicate, elongated leaves, similar to the willow and gunni varieties, with strong aromatic qualities, similar to the silver dollar variety. Our favorite for a garden-inspired wedding in Richmond, Va or Charlottesville, Virginia.
Ferns
A fern is a type of plant that reproduces via spores and have neither seeds nor flowers. Although they don’t “bloom” in the traditional sense, they come in several different beautiful and unique varieties can enhance any floral arrangement.

Perforated matte green leaves make this plant incredibly eye-catching as well as durable. Due to its “holes”, this plant is able to endure high winds and strong rain and embody a tropical feel.

Pale-green leaves with a soft and downy texture to them. This particular kind of greenery looks as if it’s covered in frost and when paired with flowers of contrasting colors, creates a beautiful and majestic arrangement.
