Behind the Blooms: Garden Party Pastels for Laura + Alex

Our clients Laura and Alex celebrated their wedding in July of 2022 with a stunning summer garden party. This theme coupled well with our love of natural, sustainable designs. Read on to see how we were inspired by the venue and garden chic motif when creating arrangements for Laura and Alex’s big day.

Location

At Fleuressence, we often draw inspiration from Earth’s natural beauty. This was particularly easy for Laura and Alex’s wedding as it was held at the picturesque Virginia House. With eight acres of rolling hills and fields overlooking the James River, Virginia House’s gardens were a beautiful backdrop for our creations.

We designed a colorful full-coverage arbor for the couple to get married under in the sunken garden area. It featured a variety of cheerful hues ranging from pink and purple to yellow and blue and several different flower types such as cosmos, roses, hydrangeas, delphiniums, and allium. Greenery including silver dollar eucalyptus and ruscus was woven throughout the arbor as well, and jasmine vine decorated the bar alcove at the reception. Arrangements also lined the aisle, giving the appearance that they naturally bloomed there in the garden.

We love the way our designs complemented their location so well.

Distinct Style

Elosinio

The style of Laura and Alex’s wedding can be categorized as garden chic. This is denoted by touches of floral patterns as seen in the wedding party’s attire, tablecloths, and paper fans and charming, antique decor. We also specifically designed their arrangements with this style in mind.

Garden-style florals are typically round or oval in shape and less structured than other arrangements. This helps create a full look without looking too defined or over-styled. Much like an actual garden, these designs are often created using a mixture of flowers that would grow together or naturally bloom at the same time of year. This also means there will be a variety of sizes, textures, and colors of flowers.

We love the natural and effortless beauty of the garden chic style.

Small Details

Dainty roses, cosmos and wedding vows and rings

Sometimes the smallest of details can make all the difference. We used florals to highlight some of these small details for Laura and Alex’s wedding. Dainty roses, cosmos, and small flower buds were added to their minimalistic cake to help bring the outdoor garden party theme indoors.

We also used small arrangements to decorate an antique etagere alongside photos of the couple and framed seating charts. We used varied sizes and shapes of vases for the display to keep things feeling simple and effortless while, much like their overall theme.

Laura and Alex’s wedding was such a beautiful day, and we loved getting to be part of it by designing their florals. Our personal styles complemented each other and lent themselves to our love of sourcing flowers local to Richmond. Our sincerest thanks and well wishes to the newlyweds.
