Lush & Romantic Floral Design at Northfield Estate
One of the best parts of being a sustainable wedding florist serving Central Virginia is experiencing all the stunning wedding venues across Richmond and Charlottesville, Virginia. Recently, we had the privilege of providing the florals and editorial staging for a photoshoot at the breathtaking Northfield Estate. Ahead, we’re sharing all the details of this luxe estate wedding shoot, perfect for couples looking for romantic wedding flowers in Richmond or elegant floral designs in Charlottesville.
The Venue
Originally built in 1820 and nestled on nearly 50 acres of countryside with trees and a picturesque pond, Northfield Estate is an exceptional wedding venue located in Cumberland, Virginia. It also features separate getting-ready spaces, a 1,100 square foot ballroom, a 5,900 square foot sailcloth tent, and a tiered outdoor terrace. This venue is an ideal choice for couples seeking a luxury wedding venue near Richmond or a charming estate wedding near Charlottesville.
We were fortunate to tour the property right after the owners Whitney and Robert Lipscomb purchased it in 2018 and have watched as they transformed it into the venue that it is today. Robert is a contractor who built out the space over the course of five years with Whitney as the visionary who put so much thought and care into every detail of the renovations. One of our favorite spaces is the bright and airy ballroom. It was originally two separate floors, but Robert and Whitney transformed it into one room with high ceilings to make it a grand, breathtaking space. For those planning a wedding in Richmond or Charlottesville, this venue offers a stunning backdrop for luxury floral arrangements.
The Florals
Because Northfield Estate offers such beautiful blank canvases with the clean white walls of the ballroom and the white fabric of the sailcloth tent, we wanted the florals to pop. Our goal was to create a lush and romantic look with an artful, Renaissance style.
We achieved this by using a mix of luxe garden roses in red, pink, and peach and pink peonies with pops of blue delphinium for an elegant yet whimsical feel.
These sustainable floral designs were carried throughout the bouquet, the mantle in the ballroom, detail shots, and the tablescapes, making it an ideal choice for those seeking romantic wedding flowers in Charlottesville or luxurious floral arrangements in Richmond.
The Details
In addition to the vibrant pops of color from the florals, we also wanted to incorporate intricate patterns and layers. A primary way we did this was through the tablescape elements. We used Famille vases from our collection of vessels to add visual interest and detail. In addition to being used as part of a tablescape, they’d also make a gorgeous accent on a head table, foyer, or bar for any event. It also paired beautifully with the stunning patterned Versace china at each place setting. Richmond and Charlottesville brides seeking a luxury wedding experience will find inspiration in these intricate floral details.
We loved having the opportunity to provide floral design and editorial staging for one of our favorite venues, and we hope it inspired you for your own floral arrangements for your Richmond wedding or Charlottesville wedding. Whether you’re planning a sustainable wedding in Central Virginia or seeking a romantic floral aesthetic, we’re here to bring your vision to life.
