Now Trending: Cherry Blossom

While beautiful blooms can be found year-round, springtime is a florist’s dream. It’s a chance for us to work with fresh flowers from the new season and unique finds that are only available during the spring here in Virginia. One of our seasonal favorites is the cherry blossom.

These beauties are only available from mid-March to April, so they’re a short-lived favorite, but when we’re able to do so we love incorporating them into our floral designs. Read on for more on this trend, the meaning behind these delicate blooms, and how we use them in our designs.

Whether your wedding is in Richmond or Charlottesville, a florist can incorporate these seasonal blooms during a spring wedding, if the timing is just right!

Symbolism

Cherry blossoms, which are the national flower of Japan, hold profound symbolism and meaning. They represent the fleeting nature of beauty and the arrival of spring since they bloom only for a short period of time as the weather begins to warm up.

The breathtaking spectacle of cherry blossoms in full bloom is a reminder to appreciate the present moment and embrace the natural beauty that surrounds us.

Why We Love It

The fleeting nature of cherry blossoms is exactly why we love them and this trend. After the last frost of the year and for only about a month, you’ll see these beautiful pink and white flowers begin bloom. It’s such a unique look that really can only be achieved in the perfect, seasonal moment.

If your wedding or event is in the spring, it’s the ideal time to take advantage of this trend. We also love the whimsical look that cherry blossoms add to any arrangement. It may seem like the organic shape of the branches lend themselves to a more natural look, which they certainly do, but we also love that this trend works perfectly for everything from chic garden party weddings to elevated traditional events.

The sprawling branches add visual interest to a bouquet or arrangement, adding something truly unique to your special day.

How To Incorporate It In Floral Designs

Interested in trying the cherry blossom trend for yourself or incorporating them into the floral designs for your next event? We prefer to use a mix of local cherry, pear, and peach branches to achieve a full, organic look.

When it comes to the color palette, we like to let the pinks of the blossoms shine and play them up with white ranunculus and baby’s breath and cream carnations and roses and small pops of pink and peach carnations and roses.

We’re so excited that spring is on the horizon, so we can create more floral designs using the cherry blossom trend!
