Behind the Blooms: Whimsical and Refined Designs for Brynn + Addison
This summer we had the honor of working with Brynn and Addison for their beautiful Charlottesville wedding. Their big day was summer garden party themed, and we loved playing a role in bringing their floral design dreams to life. The wedding design style, location, and one specific floral showstopper brought everything together to create an unforgettable day that we’re so excited to share with you.
Design Style
We would categorize Brynn and Addison’s wedding as a summer garden party style with a whimsical and refined twist. Playing into this style, we used soft, luxe blooms like locally grown lisianthus and colorful cosmos, which stole the show in every arrangement.
We also incorporated foliage throughout for added texture and natural elements such as rattan lanterns (more on this later!). With this style you’ll see floral motifs throughout various elements such as clothing, decorations, and more. We loved the mix of floral-patterned bridesmaid dresses as well as the mix of floral-patterned and colorful linens throughout the reception. The floral motif was even carried over to the cake with a mix of lush and delicate blooms to complement the hand painted icing flowers.
We love how fun and floral the garden party style is!
Location
Brynn and Addison tied the knot at the stunning Clifton Inn in Charlottesville. We love this venue for its historic charm, breathtaking views, and lush surrounding foliage. With ivy and trailing plants covering arbors and fences, the Clifton Inn has the perfect backdrop for our floral designs.
At the reception, our colorful table arrangements perfectly popped against the green foliage background. We also played into nature’s surrounding beauty by wrapping the poles of the reception tent with silver dollar eucalyptus, turning the reception area into a whimsical garden setting perfect for dining and dancing the night away.
The Showstopper
While we love all the designs and arrangements from Brynn and Addison’s big day, one particular element stood out to us: the head table. We thought it turned out to be especially exquisite.
It featured a runner of lush florals with a mix of larger arrangements in vases and ikebana and bud vases to create a variety of heights, sizes, and styles.
Other design elements we love? Our rattan lanterns and the colored taper candles. These items are perfectly tied into their whimsical yet refined design style.
Brynn and Addison’s wedding has us dreaming of warm summer days and whimsical garden parties. We loved getting to create colorful, lush designs for them and can’t wait to create many more for our clients!
