Behind the Blooms: Fresh Fall Florals for Jennifer + Andrew
On October 28, 2023, our clients Jennifer and Andrew celebrated their wedding at the beautiful Upper Shirley Vineyard. Drawing inspiration from their bold color palette and natural fall elements, we were thrilled to provide sustainable floral designs for their big day.
Color Palette
Jennifer and Andrew’s color palette were indicative of a warm fall wedding. A bright burnt orange was their primary color, so we built around that hue when designing floral arrangements. We kept with the fall theme by choosing yellows, pale oranges, peaches, and reds and select greenery. This color palette was kept in mind down to the smallest detail. To complement these tones in the bride’s bouquet, we tied it off with a cream-colored silk ribbon, and table arrangements were displayed in complementary colored glass vases.
Dahlias were one of the main flowers used in our designs as they were a favorite of the couple’s. We sourced dozens of varieties to provide a mix of sizes and colors such as bright and light oranges, peaches, and deep maroons.
We love that these were all grown locally and were hand selected for Jennifer and Andrew’s wedding in keeping with our mission of sustainability.
Design Style
Fresh, romantic, and bohemian are how we’d describe the style of Jennifer and Andrew’s wedding. This can be seen in the natural elements used throughout their wedding (more on this later!), their color palette, and effortless style of the bride and bridesmaids’ dresses.
The surrounding nature of the winery and nearby flowing river also lent themselves to the theme.
In designing for the fresh and romantic bohemian style, we used a mixture of more structured flowers like dahlias and roses and more free-flowing blooms like hypericum berries and hanging amaranthus. This juxtaposition in design kept things feeling fresh and natural just like the overall style of their wedding.
Natural Elements
One of our favorite details of this beautiful Richmond wedding was the natural elements incorporated throughout. Table arrangements were placed in terracotta vases, and wooden candle stick holders were used for the cream tapered candles. We love how the mixing of these natural materials looked with their bright color palette and fresh bohemian style. They also beautifully complemented the wine corks used as their guestbook, the colored glass vases, and wicker chargers at each place setting. We’re often inspired by nature when designing, so we love any opportunity to bring in more natural elements into our arrangements and tablescapes.
We’re so excited to have designed the florals for Jennifer and Andrew’s wedding and couldn’t be more pleased with how they turned out.
We adore our couples and love bringing their vision to life through floral design.
